ShareASale connects merchants with affiliates. It allows the merchants to use its proprietary technology to connect to a vast network of enthusiastic affiliates. Merchants can decide how much commission they intend to pay for each sale. And they will pay a commission only if the affiliate generates a direct sale.
Getting started is easy. You need to visit the ShareASale website and sign up for a merchant program. This makes promoting your products easier and more cost effective. What’s more, ShareASale merchants do not have to worry about the technical aspects of running an e-commerce site.
On the flip side, you have to pay a fee ($550) to set up your merchant account. You will also need to share a percentage of the sale with the affiliates.
ShareASale allows merchants to choose a commission structure. Merchants pay commission only if the affiliate generates a sale. Besides leading to sales and conversations, this program helps merchants to get exposure and build their brand.
On the website, click on the link that says “Merchants join here”. You’ll see a page that will give you a briefing of the program and a link that says “Sign up here”. There you’ll find an online form and you have to fill up your company details. After that you’ll be taken to the Quick Setup page. Here you can setup your merchant account. You need to specify how much incentive you would pay to the affiliates when they bring you sales.
After selecting that and choosing the right product category, you’ll be given a tracking number. Then you can test the system and upload funds. When everything is done, you can request activation.
ShareASale has a large network of affiliates and most of them have years of experience in selling products and services online. Having access to such a large network of affiliates also means that the merchant doesn’t have to spend a lot of money on marketing. The affiliates will take care of that part. And when hundreds of thousands of affiliates willingly promote banners and links, merchants get a lot of free publicity.
The ShareASale program is used by over 2500 merchants and hence affiliates will have no trouble finding a product or service that caters to the needs of their visitors.

ShareASale affiliates have access to over 2,500 merchants selling a wide variety of products or services. Once they get approved by a merchant, ShareASale will generate the code they need to put on their website. If their visitors follow that link, reach the merchant’s website and make a purchase, the merchant will share a percentage of the sale value with them. Affiliates have the freedom to choose the products they want to promote. They can also sign into their account on the ShareASale website to check their earnings and stats.

Choosing the right product is extremely important because it improves your chances of making a sale. For example, if your website is in the health and fitness niche, choosing a product catering to the same niche will help you generate more sales.
How ShareASale Affiliate Network works?
Currently ShareASale supports three affiliate programs – Pay-Per-Sale (PPS), Pay-Per-Lead (PPL), and Pay-Per-Click (PPC). If an affiliate chooses a PPS program, he will earn a commission only if he generates a sale. A PPL program allows the affiliate to earn a commission when the visitor performs a specified task such as file download or the completion of a sign-up form. PPC programs allow the affiliates to earn a commission for every visitor they send to the merchant’s website.
Searching for merchants:
Affiliates can rest assured that they will earn a commission for every sale they generate.
ShareASale currently has over 2,500 merchants. You can find all sorts of merchants – big and small, online and offline – in the ShareASale network. This improves your chances of finding a product or service suitable for your blog.
Affiliates can create deep links that point to a specific page on the merchant’s site. This improves the chances of making a sale.
ShareASale will send the payment once your earnings reach $50. Currently two payment methods are available. Affiliates can accept payment in checks or they can ask ShareASale to deposit money in their bank account. Payments for last month’s earnings are made on the 20th of the current month.
ShareASale has a referral program. If your visitors become ShareASale affiliates following your referral link, you will earn a commission.
ShareASale website’s navigation system and UI is user-friendly for new affiliates.
Getting approved by some merchants is can sometimes be hard. While most merchants will approve your application in one or two days, some merchants may take weeks or even months. This can be quite discouraging for an affiliate.
The payment options are limited. For example, ShareASale doesn’t send payment via PayPal or any other online payment systems.
Though their tracking system is flawless, their affiliate network is not as large as Commission Junction (CJ) or LinkShare. This can limit an affiliate’s chance of finding the right product..
The network has a respectable number of merchants, but inadequate search options make finding the right merchant a bit of a hassle.
