Fast & Furious 2009
My quick take on Fast & Furious (2009 film) which stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster:
Eight years ago, The Fast and the Furious highlighted the subculture of urban street racing, and two young, relatively unknown male actors burst on the scene as the movie became a surprise summer hit. Since then, two sequels have been made, with different actors and with a lot less bang in the box office. Which in my view explains why this fourth installment in the franchise returns Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) to their original Los Angeles haunt, recapturing and even surpassing the original film in terms of danger, excitement and drama.
As expected though, Fast and Furious has quite a few ludicrous moments, and naturally, since it’s a chick/car movie, it has quite a bit of cheesy, forgettable and even somewhat offensive dialogue. Despite the many silly lines and soft-core pornography (try girl on girl action), Fast and Furious is a surefire hit, and the box office reflected it with a $40M opening weekend.
If fast cars, hot girls, pumped up males (with egos to boost) are your cup of tea, then this is surely the movie for you. It’s chocked full of action sequences to keep you transfixed throughout. Must see TV for some people! Check it out
